The Life As Shay Report:
In today’s news, Jay-Z and a few of his fellow members of the super celestial club have joined forces and finances as founding members, “with equity stake”, in the new music streaming services called “TIDAL.” The slogans of choose are “Turn the tide”, “bring in the tide” and “Tidal for All.” I would have to say that is revolutionary for sure, I don’t recall the 1st time so many stars alligned for a purpose, which is sad considering the countless instances of civil and social unrest in the communities that support these very artists…but I won’t make it about that. I have the text from Alicia Key‘s announcement during the press release, that was attended by founding members, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Madonna, Kanye West, J.Cole, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Daft Punk, Jack White, Jason Aldean, Usher, Chris Martin, Calvin Harris and deadmau5.
Everything that Ms. Keys said was rather convoluted and down right creepy to me. It sounds like a group of greedy celebrities aligning to lead people into some B.S. The music streaming service is $20 per month, and is set to rival Spotify and Pandora and claims to offer high fidelity music, HD videos and “expertly-curated” content. Already it’s enough that the music we listen to can have a bad influence on our spirits if you’re not mindful but to have this particular group of celebrities aligned to dish out music to me just seems like something I want to avoid at all cost. It’s a bit scary.
“We come together before you on this day, March 30, 2015 with one voice in unity in the hopes that today will be another one of those moments in time, a moment that will forever change the course of music history,” said the R&B singer.
“Our goal is simple. We want to create a better service and a better experience for both fans and artists. And that is our promise to the world. Our mission goes beyond commerce. It goes beyond technology. Our intent is to preserve music’s importance in our lives.”
