The Life As Shay Report:
The highly anticipated “Bang Bang” by Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj has been released. The blogs and world is buzzing over the song. I would love to know what you guys think of it too. Who? Me? I think the song is pretty cool. I can’t recall the last time that more than two woman (other than female groups, of course) got on a track together…since, well Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mya and Pink did “Lady Marmalade” back in 2002.
“Bang Bang” has the gospel-esque background vocals and big broadway sound but am I listening I can’t deny feeling a bit uneasy with the concept of ‘bang bangin’. I’m like ‘Wow, there really is no discretion.’ “Lady Marmalade” was basically telling the story of a “working girl” and chorus is in French but is translated as something along the lines of, “will you sleep with me tonight?” Even the video was risque but for some reason “Bang Bang” comes off as more abrasive. “Bang bang all over you…” just a line from the song. As a ponder, I think that Ariana Grande‘s participation in the song makes the whole song seem a bit tainted to me. She appears to be the sweetest thing and as she rapidly sheds her “innocent” appeal I can’t help but feel she is taking bus loads of adolescent girls alone for the ride? I can bet you that the video will be colorful and kid friendly like a wonderful playland to attract the kiddies to “Bang Bang” even more.
Am I am tripping?
