On February 11, 2012, The 43rd Annual Image Awards honored nominees during its official Nominees Luncheon held at the Beverly Hills Hotel (not to be confused with the hotel where we lost Whitney Houston later that afternoon- #R.I.P.Whitney!!!!)
Upon arriving to the venue I was welcomed with an amazing southern style breakfast with a bougie twist…yumm!!! We had light fluffy buttermilk eggs, crunchy cinnamon-almond French toast, assorted fresh fruit, crispy applewood bacon, juicy
maple turkey sausage with an array pastries and cereal options. Heavenly! I would have to say the beauty of the room’s decor and the FAB floor-to-ceiling window over looking Beverly Hills made the breakfast that much more delicious. Now this is before I even start to assist with the Luncheon so by this time I’m super excited!
I did a lot of show running, organizing, and making sure that minor details were attended to from gift bags to table center pieces–Fun!!! When the show started I was designated as a greeter at the banquet room’s doors, SO YES–I saw all the guests, celeb and non celeb…but that wasn’t even the highlight! Your girl was asked to be the “certificate model,” which meant I was on stage handing the nominees their official certificates honoring their nomination for an Image Award–unbelievable!! Check the pic above (the out of focus one of me on stage lol). I handled it like a pro–my Momma was so proud. In that role I also was responsible for coordinating with the hosts (Keegan Michael Key and Jordan Peele of Key & Peele) to manage the flow of certificate distribution and picture taking with the NAACP dignitaries stationed on stage for photo-opps. On stage I met Keke Palmer, Loretta Divine, Tatyana Ali (“Love that Girl” hehe), Wendy Raquel Robinson, Chandra Wilson and many more…
Then to top that off we had lunch!! Woo lawd!! Now I don’t know the name of the main course or the amuse-bouche but it was a chicken and fish dish with potatoes and roughage-a beautiful culinary display upon my plate.
The stars of Disney’s Let in Shineopened the show with ‘Brighter Day’ by Kirk Franklin and performed ‘Let it Shine’ with rapping, flipping, and break-dancing in true Disney style!! Can I get a hand clap! There were so many others I ran into like Tracee Elise Ross, Anika Noni Rose and producers and writers of some of your fav shows. I snapped a shot with Keke Palmer, took a few flicks on the carpet and the luncheon was over. A complete and totally success! Lots of networking and visibility…it actually led to other opportunities…winning!
